PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejecting device by which exchanging operation of a liquid absorbing material for absorbing a liquid can be conducted easily, and to provide its maintenance unit. SOLUTION: The maintenance unit 22 is arranged in an inkjet type printer having a record head that ejects ink from a nozzle. Furthermore, the maintenance unit 22 is equipped with a body case 23, a cap 32 arranged within the body case 23 and capable of sealing the nozzle forming face of a recording and ejecting head, an inflowing ink absorbing material 27 absorbing the ink having flowed into the body case 23. The body case 23 is equipped with an opening portion 23a, allowing the inflowing ink absorbing material 27 to pass through and the inflowing ink absorbing material 27, arranged at the front side of the cap 32 inside the body case 23.
