PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor laser which has a resonator structure with different reflectances, and such a structure that suppresses a drop of output characteristic of a laser light and stabilizes outputting. SOLUTION: The semiconductor laser 100 is provided with: a laminated body wherein an active layer 4 is interposed between a first conductive clad layer 2 and a ridge-stripe-like second conductive clad layer 7; and resonator films 31 and 32 which are provided on both end faces and have reflectances different from each other. When the resonator film 31 with low reflectance is on front side and the resonator film 32 with high reflectance is on rear side in the lengthwise direction of the resonator, the optical confinement factor on the front side is set smaller than that on the rear side.
