PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an inexpensive hermetic refrigerant compressor by reducing the cost of manufacturing an upper cover and a lower cover of a hermetic container. SOLUTION: The hermetic refrigerant compressor includes a compression element 6 for compressing a refrigerant, an electric element 7 for driving the compression element 6, and the hermetic container 1 for housing the compression element 6 and the electric element 7 therein. The hermetic container 1 is composed of a cylindrical body 2 having openings at both ends thereof and the two covers 4, 5 welded to both the ends of the cylindrical body 2 so as to close both the ends of the cylindrical body 2. The two covers 4, 5 are formed to have the same dish-like shapes with bottoms 4a, 5a formed by press drawing. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
