PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection timing determination device for an internal combustion engine determining fuel injection timing for making an estimated ignition timing closer to target ignition timing without using inverse model of an ignition timing estimation model. SOLUTION: This device has an ignition timing estimation forward model using fuel injection timing and a plurality of other parameters as argument. The device sets first, second third injection timing a1, a2, a3 by each of predetermined methods, and calculates first, second third estimated ignition timing b1, b2, b3 respectively corresponding to the first, second, third ignition timing a1, a2, a3, based on the ignition timing estimation forward model. Therefore, an approximate quadratic curve passing through three points (a1, b1), (a2, b2), (a3, b3) accurately approximating a relation between the fuel injection timing and the estimated ignition timing is acquired, and fuel injection timing CAinj corresponding to target ignition timing CAigt in an operational status at the present moment is acquired based on the approximate quadratic curve.
