PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image eraser which pares off and erases an image formed on a recording medium with an image forming material, wherein the image eraser can minimize uneven erasing of the image. SOLUTION: The image eraser functions to grind the image recorded with the image forming material and then to thermally erase the same, and includes a brush (35) and a blade (36). The brush (35) is arranged so as to make contact with a grinding member (33) that moves its grinding surface to make contact with the recording medium on which the image is formed. The blade (36) inhibits cutting chips from moving along the grinding surface of the grinding member due to an air current occurring along the grinding surface in a moving direction of the grinding surface of the grinding member.
