The invention concerns a carbon brush (2) for a direct-current motor (1). The carbon brush (2) comprises at least one brush body (2) with a running surface (15), an electrical contact between the brush body (2) and a commutator (4) of the direct-current motor (1) being able to be established on a contact point of the running surface (15). A profile line (18) of the brush body (2) extending along the running surface (15) comprises at least one convex section (20), on which the brush body (2) is convexly shaped. This results in reducing a dipping of an edge (16) of the brush body (2) when a commutator slot (5, 6) is crossed over and in preventing a subsequent ejection.
