PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographing apparatus which improves operability, convenience and the like in a viewer style where a second housing is housed in a first housing in the state of making a display unit visible. SOLUTION: The photographing apparatus comprises a first housing including a cursor key 43 and a second housing 27 which includes a display unit 26, and is supported in the first housing so as to freely turn. The photographing apparatus comprises a turn detection unit 30 for detecting a turning position of the second housing 27, and a viewer control unit 41 and a function allocation unit 42 for performing control to set functions to be allocated to keys 43a-43d of the cursor key 43 on the basis of the turning position of the second housing 27 detected by the turn detection unit 30. The functions to be allocated to the keys 43a-43d are controlled to be set so that the operating direction of the cursor key 43 can be relatively matched with the display direction of the display unit 26.
