PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface acoustic wave duplexers, their surface acoustic wave filters, and a communication apparatus using the surface acoustic wave duplexers or surface acoustic wave resonators in which isolation characteristics, insertion loss and power resistance are enhanced. SOLUTION: A surface acoustic wave resonator comprises a piezoelectric substrate 19, an IDT (Inter Digital Transducer) electrode 1 formed on the piezoelectric substrate 19 and including bus bar electrodes 12a, reflector electrodes 2 disposed to be adjacent to both sides of the IDT electrode 1 in a main propagation direction F of surface acoustic waves at the IDT electrode 1, and auxiliary reflector electrodes 3 that includes electrodes formed repeatedly and are disposed at positions external to the reflector electrodes 2 on virtual straight lines extending from the bus bar electrodes 12a of the IDT electrode 1.
