PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable magnetic head which prevents deletion after recording. SOLUTION: The magnetic head includes a thin film magnetic head for vertical magnetic recording which is provided with; a main magnetic pole having an end part for facing a magnetic recording medium and a coil for magnetizing the main magnetic pole. In this case, the end part or at least part of the main magnetic pole is a soft magnetic multilayer film which contains a laminated body having a first ferromagnetic film, a second ferromagnetic film and an antiparallel coupling layer formed between the first and second ferromagnetic films. The antiparallel coupling layer performs interlayer coupling between the first ferromagnetic film and the second ferromagnetic film antiferromagnetically. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
