PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve productivity by making it easy to automate a press-fitting process of a ball into a ball receiving portion as well as permitting the ball to be press-fitted into the ball receiving portion from any of one and the other sides of a retainer body without bringing about deformations such as evaginations, burrs or the like in an inner peripheral edges of annular openings. SOLUTION: A ball holding portion 10 is equipped with the ball receiving portion 11 for holding the ball so as to roll, annular openings 12a, 12b which are opened at one surface 9a and the other surface 9b sides of the retainer body 9 and permit the ball to be protruded partially by a required amount, and deformation deterring zones 13a, 13b which are each formed with a required width in the inner peripheral edge of both the annular openings 12a, 12b to deter deformation of the inner peripheral edges in the annular openings 12a, 12b after the ball has been press-fitted into the ball receiving portion 11.
