PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system constituted in such a way that users can appropriately select a starting direction regardless of the orientation of a terminal device. SOLUTION: The navigation system 10 is constituted of both the terminal device 30 such as a cellular phone and a route search server 20. In this case, the terminal device 30 is provided with both an operation and display part 36 and an image control part 37. The operation and display part 36 includes a rotation operation means for rotating a displayed image. The image control part 37 rotates the image according to the operation of the operation and display part, computes a changed azimuth according to the amount of rotation, and requests a route search to the route search server 20 with the changed azimuth as a starting azimuth. The route search server 20 distributes a route with a link having an azimuth matched with the starting azimuth transmitted from the terminal device 30 as a starting link to the terminal device 30.
