PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift operation device for a vehicle allowing stable assembling of an operation knob to an operation lever shaft and elastic supporting of the operation knob at an optional position of the operation lever shaft. SOLUTION: This shift operation device is provided with the operation lever shaft 4 rotatably supported on a shift operation device main body 1 and the operation knob mounted at a distal end part of the operation lever shaft 4, to make a transmission of the vehicle perform a shift operation by a rotating operation of the operation lever shaft 4. The shift operation device is provided with an engagement member 5 formed into a cylindrical shape substantially copying an outer peripheral surface of the operation lever shaft 4 and capable of being fixed into a mounting hole 3aa of the operation knob 3, while capable of inserting the operation lever shaft 4, and having an engageable claw part 5a, while elastically deforming, in the operation lever shaft 4 inserted into the mounting hole 3aa.
