PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably operating an apparatus by preventing deterioration in membrane function in the case of separation using a reverse osmosis membrane for desalination of seawater. SOLUTION: The reverse osmosis membrane separation method is for treating an acidic substance-containing object liquid to be treated with a membrane separation apparatus having a reverse osmosis membrane. The reverse osmosis membrane separation method includes addition of an organic compound or phosphorus compound having reducibility to the object liquid to be treated before treatment of the object liquid to be treated with the membrane separation apparatus.
