<p>A recording type decision device comprises optical irradiation means for applying an optical beam to an optical type recording medium having an on-groove or in-groove recording type and having a wobbled track, and tracking means for tracking an optical spot formed by the applied optical beam so that the optical spot may be positioned on the track. Further comprised are wobbled signal amplitude measuring means for measuring the amplitude of the wobbled signal contained in the optical beam coming from the optical spot, and decision means for deciding the recording type on the basis of the magnitude of the amplitude of the wobbled signal.</p> |
