PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical coupler in which the increase in the cost of components necessary for the optical coupler is suppressed as far as possible, and the influence of the attenuation caused when a light beam passes through a dichroic mirror is reduced and to provide an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: Collimator lenses 13, 13 and 13 for optical coupling are disposed in coupling parts 12, 12 and 12 in a way that the optical axes of the lenses are in parallel to the central axes of the coupling parts 12, 12 and 12, respectively. At the top parts of the optical axes of the respective coupling parts 12, 12 and 12, the emitting end parts of optical coupling fibers 8, 8 and 8, to which a B-luminous flux, an R-luminous flux and a G-luminous flux emitted from a B-laser emitter, an R-laser emitter and G-laser emitter, respectively, are independently made incident, are connected in the described order from one end of a case 11 in a way that the end parts of the optical fibers are inserted into the coupling parts 12, 12 and 12 by a prescribed depth.
