PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce flickering of the light emitted from a lamp light source to a minimum, and to enhance the uniformity of irradiation intensity with respect to the required wide range of irradiation surface. SOLUTION: In one embodiment, straight tube type lamps 1, 1 are linearly juxtaposed with a gap L, and a straight tube type lamp 2 of the same kind for enhancing the uniformity is arranged in the gap L. In addition thereto, a direct current power source is provided to light the straight tube type lamps 1, 1, and a dimmer is provided to regulate the direct current power source. The straight tube type lamps 1, 1, 2 are formed respectively of low-pressure sodium lamps. A light-reflecting plate 3 is juxtaposed on a gap L side, in another embodiment. In other embodiment, the straight tube type lamps 1, 1 are juxtaposed with a space M inclinedly in a parallel condition, and the light reflecting plate 3 is juxtaposed under parallel condition.
