PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the leakage of secret information in the case of the movement, discard and update of facsimile equipment. SOLUTION: In an erasure mode based on simultaneous operations with the function key or numeric key of a control panel part or an operation in a predetermined order, the storage content of a data memory in which secret information such as an abbreviated key number is stored is erased in a batch. Afterwards, the storage content of the storage means is transmitted to a support center installed in a maker or the like, and when erasure is confirmed by the support center, an initialized certificate which is not shown in a figure is returned to a personal computer at a user side as erasure completion information. Therefore, it is possible to erase the secret information, and to confirm whether or not the secret information has been surely erased without performing any complicate operation in conveyance, and to confirm whether or not the secret information has been erased. Thus, it is possible to prevent the undesired leakage of secret information in the case of the discard or reuse of the facsimile equipment, and to improve security. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
