PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of forming an organic light-emitting layer and a charge transport layer precisely with less time and labor as well as suppressing crosstalk when manufacturing an organic EL element. SOLUTION: This is the manufacturing method of the organic electroluminescent element which is at least equipped with the base body, with a first electrode installed on the base body, with a barrier rib formed corresponding to the first electrode, with the charge transport layer and the organic light-emitting layer formed in a region sectioned by the barrier rib, and with a second electrode. The barrier rib has a lattice shape formed from a first barrier rib in parallel with a first straight line and a second barrier rib in parallel with a second straight line, and the height of the first barrier rib is larger than that of the second barrier rib. This manufacturing method is equipped with a process of forming the charge transport layer by a printing method using a printing plate having a scanning part corresponding to the second barrier rib, and a process of forming the organic light-emitting layer the printing method using the printing plate having the scanning part corresponding to the first barrier rib.
