PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device which is improved so as to suppress the unevenness of application of a lubricant to an image carrier surface by a simple configuration. SOLUTION: The cleaning device for removing residual toner remaining on the surface of an image carrier from the image carrier after transfer of a toner image on the image carrier, which is employed in an image forming apparatus which forms the toner image on the rotating image carrier and finally transfers and fixes the toner image onto a recording paper to record an image on the recording paper, includes; a brush which is rotated in contact with a portion after transfer of the toner image, of the image carrier surface to remove the residual toner on this portion; a cleaning blade which is abutted on a portion downstream to the portion to be contacted with the brush, in a rotation direction of the image carrier to scrape the residual toner; and a solid lubricant which is arranged at a position to be contacted with the brush, and of which a contact surface to the brush is formed to have ruggedness.
