PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cleaning an extruder which can be used for removing easily an dswiftly a contaminant remaining inside the extruder used for production of a thermoplastic polyurethane resin or the like. SOLUTION: In the method for cleaning the extruder by a cleaning resin (R1), the problem is solved by a method for cleaning the extruder for the thermoplastic polyurethane resin comprises using a cleaning resin (R1) having the flow start temperature (T1) of not higher than the flow start temperature (T2) of the thermoplastic polyurethane resin (R2) which is produced or processed after the cleaning.
