<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique enabling automatic setting of a transmission wavelength in improvement of a transponder unit. <P>SOLUTION: A transponder of a wavelength division multiplexing apparatus detects a wavelength of a leak light (received light) having one of plural wavelengths to be multiplexed or divided in a WDM unit to be received from the WDM unit when the transponder is connected to the WDM unit, determines a transmission wavelength being a wavelength of a light to be transmitted to the WDM unit on the basis of the wavelength of the received light, and perform setting for converting the wavelength of the light to be transmitted to the WDM unit into the transmission wavelength, and transmitting the converted light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
