PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform speed increasing/decreasing operation for a band while confirming normalcy in a ring and to carry out efficient transmission etc., flexibly adaptively to great variation in traffic. SOLUTION: A control method for a physical band of a ring type network where a ring application of the data link layer operates on the physical layers includes the stages of: confirming path states of all node devices by using control information on a path band increasing/decreasing function between the node devices on the physical layer; instructing all the node devices to increase or decrease path bands by using the control information on the path band increasing/decreasing function between the node devices on the physical layer when the path states of all the node devices can be confirmed normally; confirming that the path band of all the node devices are increased or decreased completely by using the control information on the path band increasing/decreasing function between the node devices on the physical layer when the path band increase/decrease instructions are transmitted normally; and making a ring application function of the data link layer confirm the band changing when the path bands of all the node devices can be increased or decreased normally.
