The assembly to monitor the heat distribution at the running circumference surface (RLF,SPF) of the wheel (RUO), of a rail vehicle, has a thermal image camera (WBK) with its optical axis (o) parallel to the center plane of the wheel. The optical axis is carried to a measurement zone (ARE) on the wheel surface under the wheel axis (a) and a section of the rail surface (SAB) behind the wheel.
