<p>To enable an air conditioner where an outdoor unit and an indoor unit are interconnected via communication pipes to perform pump down operation while reliably protecting a compressor. An air conditioner (1) is provided with an outdoor unit (2) including a gas close valve (27), a compressor (21) driven by a compressor motor (28) controlled by an inverter (31), an outdoor heat exchanger (23), an electrically powered expansion valve (24), and a liquid close valve (26); an indoor unit (4) including an indoor heat exchanger (41); and communication pipes (5, 6) that interconnect the outdoor unit (2) and the indoor unit (4). The air conditioner (1) determines, on the basis of compressor power supplied to the compressor motor (28) from the inverter (31), whether or not pump down operation is being performed in a state of refrigeration cycle operation that causes the indoor heat exchanger (41) to function as an evaporator of refrigerant, and when pump down operation is being performed, the air conditioner (1) stops the compressor (21) after a predetermined stop time has elapsed.</p> |
