<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the control of growth density or the like of carbon fibers by controlling the arrangement of a catalyst material. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst material includes the catalyst particulates 5a which promotes the growth of carbon fibers by acting on a carbon-containing gas, and a number of the catalyst materials are arranged on a substrate. Further, the inhibitors 7 which inhibit the above action of the catalyst particulates 5a are arranged between the catalyst materials in such a way as to disperse in a chip-like form so as to enable control of the growth density of the carbon fiber 9 in a carbon fiber bundle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
