摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device wherein electric energy is efficiently obtained from a water-containing organic material by obtaining a sufficiently low anode potential as a result of keeping an activation overvoltage of the anode low. <P>SOLUTION: This is the power generating device which is equipped with an anaerobic region 4 including a solution or a suspension containing microorganisms capable of growing in anaerobic conditions and an organic material, an electronic mediator, and an anode 1, an aerobic region 5 including molecular oxygen and a cathode 3, a barrier rib 2 to demarcate the anaerobic region 4 and the aerobic region 5, and in which a closed circuit 6 is formed by electrically connecting the anode 1 and the cathode 3 to an electric power utilizing equipment, and an oxidation reaction of the microorganisms in which the organic material in the anaerobic region 4 is used as an electron donor and a reduction reaction in which oxygen in the aerobic region 5 is used as an electron acceptor are utilized. The electron mediator is made coupled with a CNT (carbon nanotube) immobilized on the anode surface or a VGCF (vapor phase growth carbon fiber), and a character that the standard electrode potential (E<SB>O</SB>') range in pH 7 of the anode is -0.13 V to -0.28 V is maintained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
