PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seal member having a simple structure, suppressing inversion of lip parts and securely detecting the inversion if the lip parts are inverted. SOLUTION: The seal member 6 interposed on a fitting part between two members coaxially fitted comprises a cored bar 61 fitted and fixed to one of the two members; and an elastic seal lip member 62 which is provided with the plurality of lip parts 62a, 62b, 62c brought into elastically sliding contact with the opposing other member and is fixed to the cored bar 61. The plurality of lip parts 62a, 62b, 62c include the lip part 62b facing the upstream side in the fitting direction of the other member with respect to one member, and a thick raised part 62d is formed in the downstream side in the fitting direction of the elastic seal lip member 62.
