PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a serial signal receiving circuit of simple circuitry which can determine a plurality of signals from a serial signal without detecting the signal incorrectly in an asynchronous communication system for transmitting a serial signal obtained by multiplexing a plurality of signals having durations different from each other. SOLUTION: An inputted serial signal is sampled by a sampling circuit 21 and its duration of "H" or "L" is counted by an up/down counter 22. A status determination circuit 23 determines status information from the count result. A falling detection circuit 24 can determine a pulse signal without detecting a status signal incorrectly as the pulse signal by receiving a status determination signal from the status determination circuit 23.
