PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a search precision and to enhance user's satisfaction by setting a substantial center point of a designated region. SOLUTION: This local search system is provided with: a location database in which a location name is associated with coordinate information on a map, and map center point equivalence information showing the level of whether or not the location is equivalent as the center point of the map is stored; a facility database in which a facility name and coordinate information on the map are stored in association with each other; a location database searching part for searching the location database; a map center determining part for determining map center point relevance information from the retrieval result of the retrieving part and determining the map center point; a facility database searching part for searching the facility database based on a distance from the map center point determined by the map center determining part and the input information; a map image display part for displaying a map image with the map center point determined by the map center determining part as a center; and a result list display part for displaying the retrieval result of the facility database retrieving part.
