PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pilot type solenoid valve free of the influence on the sliding motions of a plunger or a valve element by engaging a guide pipe with the valve element without increasing the number of component parts or the man-hours for processing and eliminating a distortion due to thermal deformation at the time of engagement. SOLUTION: The solenoid valve is equipped with a valve body furnished with a main valve chamber having a main valve seat, the main valve element contacting with and separating from the main valve seat, an inlet joint brazed fast to the upstream of the main valve seat in the valve body, an outlet joint secured to the downstream of the main valve seat, a coil for feeding current for energization, a sucking piece installed on the inner peripheral side of the coil, the plunger arranged confronting the sucking piece, a plot valve element arranged moving in a single piece with the plunger, and the guide pipe having a minor diametric portion to admit inserting slidably of the plunger and a major diameter portion on which the main valve element is fitted slidably, wherein the major diameter portion of the guide pipe is inserted into a mounting opening formed in the valve body and is engaged fast to the valve body using a means exerting less thermal influence than brazing.
