A BROWSER

A browser is described with enhanced functionality for accessing and viewing hypermedia documents and for presenting, communicating and sharing a number of bookmarks corresponding to the hypermedia documents. The browser comprises a graphical user interface (GUI) having a plurality of regions for displaying hypermedia documents, the browser being configured such that when a link in a document displayed in a first region is selected, a hypermedia document associated with the link is selectably loaded in a second region. The browser also provides an enhanced way of scrolling a document which is larger than the viewable area. The document can be scrolled by holding down a key on the keyboard and simultaneously moving the mouse. By holding down two different keys, the document can be scrolled in both the vertical and the horizontal direction simultaneously. Additionally, the browser may comprise means for generating a collection file including network addresses of electronic documents corresponding to a selection of bookmarks; and means for displaying a graphical representation of said selection of bookmarks in a region of said GUI. The collection file may also comprise multimedia data associated with the selection of bookmarks. Furthermore, automatic archiving processes can be instigated by the user so that the bookmarks remain useful and up-to-date.
