<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-speed and high-performance face image authentication device and a program. <P>SOLUTION: This face image authentication device is provided with an image processing part 2 having a first image processing means detecting an eye position and a second image processing means performing light correction based on face image information, a characteristic extraction part 3 extracting image characteristics from the processed face image information, a characteristic optimization part 4 optimizing the extracted image characteristics, a storage part 5 registering the optimized characteristic part as registration information, and an authentication part 6 comparing the registration information with authentication information for authentication. The first image processing means in the image processing part 2, which is provided with an eye characteristic clustering means determining whether information about eyes is included in a predetermined area or not by using a plurality of pieces of face image information and an eye determination means determining whether the eye information is included in the area determined by the eye characteristic clustering means or not, generates an eye characteristic sample, and using the generated eye characteristic sample, generates an eye position detector by a neural network. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
