PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a commercially available hot pepper species resistant to anthrax disease.

SOLUTION: An isolated nucleic acid molecule encoding a pathogen-related protein 10 derived from Capcicum baccatum and having a sequence number 1 is provided. An isolated pathogen-related protein 10 (CbPR-10) encoded by a cDNA clone, having a sequence number 2 and further containing a phosphate binding loop (P-loop) motif Gly-X-Gly-Gly-X-Gly (where X is an arbitrary amino acid) is provided.
