PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell of high power and high fuel utilization efficiency. SOLUTION: The fuel cell is provided with a fuel pole, an oxidant pole, a fuel supply port, and a porous layer transporting liquid fuel from the fuel supply port to the fuel pole. The porous layer is characterized in that a value of at least one of a porosity, a transmission coefficient and a tortuosity factor is different in accordance with at least one of distances from the fuel supply port and the fuel pole.
