PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for decontaminating equipment capable of reducing the drainage amount. SOLUTION: The inside of the equipment is evacuated (step S103) after a dry gas supply process (step S101), so that it can be easily determined based on the pressure in the evacuated equipment whether heavy water of liquid state remains in the equipment, and it can be determined that water vapor is supplied into the equipment after it is certainly obtained that the heavy water does not remain in step S105. The water vapor is introduced into the equipment to perform isotope exchange reaction (step S107) in a state where the heavy water of the liquid state does not remain in the equipment, so that the time required for the isotope exchange is reduced.
