PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas barrier film having flexible and sufficient barrier engine performance and refractory and to provide a picture display device and an organic electroluminescent element which reconciled durability and lightweighting. SOLUTION: In the gas barrier film alternately having barrier layers which consist of much more inorganic substance at least, and organic layers much more at least on a plastic plate; at least one layer of the barrier layers is a gas barrier film formed by the atomic layer depositing method (the Atomic Layer Deposition: ALD method).
