PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel naphthalocyanine dye useful as an image forming material, an infrared thermal recording material, an optical recording element, or an optical film material. SOLUTION: A naphthalocyanine compound made from a compound represented by formula (II) or (III) and its production method are provided. In formulae (II) and (III), Q51and Q61are each independently a nonmetallic atomic group necessary to form a heterocyclic ring together with the N atom; R52and R62are each independently a substituent; n51and n61are each independently an integer of 1 to 6; n52and n62are each independently an integer of 0 to 5; and A11, A12, and A13are each independently an O atom or an NH group.
