<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately and easily perform adjustment to a knee angle at which effective exercises are performed in an exercise assisting apparatus for imparting the exercise to a user by changing the body weight and applying it to the leg part of the user by swinging a seat part when the user puts a hip part to the seat part. <P>SOLUTION: When a user 2 instructs an adjustment operation in the state of overstriding the seat part 4 in a standing position as illustrated in (a), a control circuit elevates the seat part 4 by driving a motor for elevation and lowering, and when it is detected by a load sensor 193 that it abuts on the crotch as illustrated in (b), stops the elevation. In such a state, when the user 2 puts the hips on the seat part 4 and puts a leg part 7 on a leg base 8 so that the shins 7a are vertical as illustrated in (c), the knee angle θ becomes 140° to allow the effective exercise as long as the height H1 of the leg base 8 is selected to be an appropriate height of 5 to 10 cm.
