<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability when retrieving desired data from data displayed in a list without providing any new key. <P>SOLUTION: An operation part 3, where a plurality of operation regions are set, outputs an operation signal corresponding to an operation region covered by the finger of a user through a light emitting element 32 and a light receiving element 33 to a CPU 18. When a first upper key 40A and a first lower key 42A is shielded, the CPU 18 successively selects item data on the list displayed at a display part 22 one by one, and discriminately displays the pertinent item data while pointing a cursor at the selected item data. When the second upper key 40B and the second lower key 42B are shielded, the CPU 18 compares the leading characters of the item data adjacent on the list.
