摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a high quality rod like glass formed body even when glass having high viscosity in forming is used.

SOLUTION: In the method of manufacturing the rod like glass formed body by pouring molten glass into a mold, the rod-like glass formed body is obtained by pouring the molten glass obtained by melting glass exhibiting≥1 dPa s viscosity at a liquid temperature into a trough like recessed part provided in the mold, moving the molten glass along the recessed part to form a glass formed body having a shape corresponding to the shape of the recessed part and intermittently pressing the side surface of the glass formed body or continuously drawing the formed glass to the moving direction to form rod-like.
