<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upright piano which never has wrong position relation between a damper unit and strings even when a top plate and a shelf board are detached for repair etc., to hardly have a shift in fitting position with time. <P>SOLUTION: A support rail 59 which supports the damper unit 49 is supported only on a frame 39, so even when the top plate 9 and shelf board 19 are detached for repair etc., the damper unit 49 and strings can be prevented from having wrong position relation.
