PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing apparatus in which there exists no possibility of operating a cutting means by an operator to a rigid body medium such as a recording medium mounted to the apparatus main body and damaging the rigid body medium by opening carelessly a cover of a storing part. SOLUTION: When an optical disc D is mounted to the apparatus main body 2 under a condition that the optical disc D is projected to the outside of the apparatus from an inserting opening 16 of the cover 6 of the storing part and is stood, the cover 20 for the inserting opening is moved to a specified position by being pushed by inserting the optical disc D. By this movement, a cutter locking member 25 provided on the cover 6 of the storing part locks a cutter operating button 12 to prohibit a cutting action of the cutter 11. At the same time, a cover locking member 30 provided on the cover 6 of the storing part is locked to a locking part 24 provided on the apparatus main body 2, and the cover 6 of the storing part is locked to the apparatus main body 2 to prohibit its opening.
