PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain detailed power-saving effects by attaching a human detection sensor to the AV (Audio and Visual) apparatus such as a television receiver, setting an ordinary mode and a power-saving mode to the AV apparatus, and activating the function of the human detection sensor in the respective modes. SOLUTION: In the AV apparatus with the human detection sensor function to which the human detection sensor for sensing the presence of people is installed and the ordinary mode for manually turning off the power and the power-saving mode for serving the power-saving effects are set, when the power-saving mode is set (S4, S11), if the human detection sensor cannot sense the presence of people for a specified prescribed time (S12, S13), the mode is automatically switched into a standby mode (S14), and when the standby mode continues for a specified prescribed time (S15), the power is automatically interrupted (S16). Further, when the ordinary mode is set (S5), if the human detection sensor cannot sense the presence of people for the specified prescribed time, the mode is switched into the power-saving mode (S6, S7, S10).
