PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical diesel engine not requiring a new part or sealing in constructing a blow-by gas path. SOLUTION: This invention relates to a vertical diesel engine, and a first communication hole 18 is bored on a chamber wall 17 between a crank chamber 9 and a fuel injection cam chamber 8. A second communication hole 20 is bore on a chamber wall 19 between the fuel injection cam chamber 8 and a gear case 6. A space 22 communicating to a valve gear cam chamber 7 is provided with indented on an upper part of a gear case side end wall 21 of the valve gear cam chamber 7, and a third communication hole 23 establishing communication and connection between the space 22 and an inside of the gear case 6 is bored on the end wall 21. A fourth communication hole 25 provided through a ceiling wall 24 of the space 22 is communicated to a push rod hole 26 formed on a cylinder block 1, and a blow-by gas passage 27 of the crank chamber 9, the fuel injection cam chamber 8, the inside of the gear case 6, the space 2, the push rod hole 23 and a rocker arm chamber 4 is formed.
