PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel type working machine of which the assembling property is improved, and at the same time, of which the traveling system power transmitting mechanism is made compact. SOLUTION: An engine 7 is mounted on the rear section of a machine body frame 6, and at the same time, this wheel type working machine is equipped with a traveling body 2 equipped with the traveling system power transmitting mechanism 8 which transmits the power from the engine 7 to rear wheels 5. On the traveling body 2, a turntable 201 is freely turnably supported around a turning axis X in the vertical direction. A ground working device 203 is provided in the front section of the turntable 201, and a driver's seat 205 is provided in the rear section. The wheel type working machine is equipped with a steering device 202 for the traveling system and an operating device 206 for the ground working device on the turntable 201. In the wheel type working machine, the power transmitting mechanism 8 has a rear wheel differential device 38 which is arranged in front of the engine 7, an HST 35 which is arranged in front of the rear wheel differential device 38, and to which the power from the engine 7 is transmitted, and a mechanical type transmitting device 37 which transmits the power from the HST 35 to the rear wheel differential device 38.
