PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water jet peening device and a water jet peening method, increasing a jet energy emitted from a nozzle, further elongating a jet arrival distance to improve relaxation against the stress of material of a part to be constructed. SOLUTION: This water jet peening device jets a water jet 7 of a water stream from a nozzle 1 to the part 9 to be constructed, thereby improving relaxation against the residual stress of the part 9 to be constructed.
