The invention relates to a drive unit for manipulating electric components (1), comprising a housing (2) with a bore (3) for guiding a rotatable holder (4), which can be displaced in a linear manner along its rotational axis and which receives the component (1), the drive unit being provided with a rotary drive (6) and a linear drive (5) for the holder (4). The rotary drive (6) and the linear drive are mechanically decoupled from the holder (4) with regard to the axial position of the latter and are merely kinematically coupled in a fixed manner to the holder (4) in the drive direction. This permits the cylindrical holder (4) to be precisely guided in the bore (3) without the interference of other forces.
