<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous material which efficiently uses a carbon nanofiber and of which industrial handling is facilitated, and a method for manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The porous material is obtained by mixing the carbon nanofibers with an elastomer to disperse by shear force and heat-treating the resultant composite elastomer.
