PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preform composed of a multi-axis stitch base containing reinforcing fiber yarns oriented in multiple directions and having excellent followability to curved surface and provide a method for producing the preform. SOLUTION: The preform is produced by arranging a number of reinforcing fiber yarns parallelly in the form of a sheet layer, laminating at least two layers in crossed state, integrating the laminate with a stitching yarn to form a multi-axis stitched substrate and forming the multi-axis substrate singly or as a laminate of a plurality of the sheets in a form having a quadratic surface.
