The calibration device comprises a sealed pressure chamber (2) with a deformable membrane (6) that has an electro-dynamic exciter (4) and a performance enhancer (7). The performance enhancer is a DC enhancer such that when the membrane is deformable with the exciter to alternate the pressure in the pressure chamber from a starting frequency of 0 Hertz. The membrane may be so stiff as to have a natural mode at a frequency of at least 100 Hertz.
